Hello, Aido here in Ireland, I'm new to Google Groups just want to find
some info on becoming a pilot !
I know you need a science degree but what part of science and If
anybody knows wre i could find more infomation on it !

Welcome. First you are posting to soemthing called USENET via Google Groups.
Do a quick Google of USNET to learn the difference.

That said let's talk about flying. While some flying jobs may require a
degree you don't need one in most parts of the world to get a license.

You didn't say where in Ireland you were but a quick Google search brought
up this site.

You can become a pilot in the USA at 14 for gliders and 16
for power airplanes [for solo as a student] and you can get
the license at 17. A commercial license [properly
certificate requires 18] No FAA certificate requires any
college. Some employers do want college grads, but the
government does not care.

Aido,

You haven't specified if you are from Northern Ireland or the Republic and
if you want to become a private or commercial pilot. For a PPL, many people
do go to the States as it is cheaper there.

Assuming you are Eire, there are several places (mainly the big airports)
where you can learn to fly. Have a look at www.flyinginirelandmagazine.com
where they have good links.

Your best bet is to approach your local airport and find the club. Speak to
instructors, pilots and student pilots to have an idea of what it all
entitles.

If it the commercial route you are interested, then the UK has many
organizations that will prepare you for the European (JAR) licence.
